Now looking forward to reading this novel by Dave Eggers.

Green Papaya Salad on Sunday

• 1 teaspoon whole garlic cloves
• 2-10 small thai chilies, to taste
• 1 tablespoon palm sugar
• 1 tablespoon fish sauce, or 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 long bean, broken into 1.5" pieces
• 1 tomato
• 2 teaspoons lime juice
• 1 cup shredded green papaya
• 3 tablespoons dry roasted peanuts

Mama Bird and I are sure gonna miss the heavenly fruit buffet at the resort!
I declare that every place worldwide should have pounds upon pounds of fresh fruit daily!

The Wedding.
This week, preparing for my sister's wedding, being around my parents and Ali's new in-laws,
being away from the man I love, seeing couples everywhere on the beach,
I have done a lot of thinking about relationships.
What makes them work, what gives them life.
One thing that amazes me is that when you are in love you are able to see the details
of someone that no one else notices. You are able to work with someone in a way that you
normally wouldn't take the time to.
I see that in Ali and Brett. I really do.
The way they are independent and yet together. The way she smiles when he says something stupid. The way he listens when she calls him hunny.
Congratulations Ali and Brett. Make the vows and the love last a lifetime.

Baked Potato. Tomato. Corn on the cob. Onion. Jalepeno Pepper.
Grilled chicken. Green sausage. Turkey. Veal. Steak. Pork chop.
Chocolate mousse. Fruit tart.
White wine.

This is probably what we should do if I'm gonna be gone for a week...
We should parade around in goggles...
And make cookies...
And spill bananagram tiles everywhere...
We should stay close
And stay up all night.
We should probably laugh a bit and talk a lot.

The night is cold, but your arms are warm.
Clouds cover moon, yet I see so clear.
I miss you even when I'm with you.

My sister, whose feet are featured above, treated me to
my first pedicure this evening and it was lovely.
She's ready for her big day and we're both ready for a big, relaxing, vacation!

Candy Run.
In between doing life... working, going to class, preparing for weddings,
packing for Mexico, writing songs or reading books, making meals or taking naps,
scheduling appointments, hangin out with friends, checking email or NFL.com,
driving to see one another and talking about dreams...
THIS is where we party.

We painted tiles at work today...
And it was the best thing we could have done.
My morning started with a forgotten babysitting job and
stomach cramps that were enough to make me want to jump off a bridge.
But as soon as I got into the program room with the music, the paintbrushes, the colors,
the kids busy with ideas, the frappuccino David picked up for me on his way to work,
my mind set to the task of creating and enjoying my ability to create.
The guitar tile is David's. It says "Music" and "Love" in Hindi.
The remaining three are mine.
And reveal my ever-existing, stubborn itch to get out into the world.
Thank God for art. And what it does to my soul.

The purity and clarity and boldness of this photo
remind me of why I take photos at all.
Because it stirs desire within me,
to see all moments of life with this same purity and clarity and boldness.
